I made a prayer at the turn of the century,
Worldwide ceasefire and an end to the bickering
We're wasting precious, half-spent lives,
Over territories, historical glories
When no-one is here long enough
To have the right to claim it as their own
So here's a chance for a new beginning,
Grasp it with both hands,
Turn the tide on our greatest failings,
Don't let your faith slip through this
like white sand,
I bought a prayer at the turn of the century,
And I want out of this consumer society,
We're wasting precious, half-spent lives,
While our stocks of grain are stacked so high,
Half the world is suffering,
Slowly starving where their bodies lie,
