Hard Against the Parapet
       (C) 1993 N.Thomas

One safe trip my caution splay
One less trust my feelings betray
       Everything before my eyes
       I cannot help but despise

Take my blood my lifeless vein
           Take my worn out spleen
Take my flesh my worthless carcass
But give me back my dream

Embrace the air, this chilling dissident
Puppet-strings severed in one swift sentiment
       Lipstick stained sensual cigarette
Face pressed hard against the parapet
       Cursed and prophesised
My sad and sorry slow demise

       I have to swallow vertigo
       Fractured reasoning could only know
If this depth of pain could lessen desire
This caustic penance I will quickly tire
The sweetest poignant compromise that I despise
