It had been seven years since Leigh Stothard had left
Coda, but during that time Neil, Dave and Leigh had
kept in touch with each other. Leigh  had also played
drums for Neil on 'Heartland' but was also working in his
funk/soul band 'Whipping Post' Leigh arranged a jamming
session with Neil and Theo (The Post's guitarist) and the
three decided to find a bass player to complete the line
up of a new covers band. When Bryn, a local musician,
auditioned and agreed to join, Zebra was born. Playing
mostly covers, Zebra began to easily gather bookings
but unfortunately interest began to wane after the first

few performances, which could have been down to the pressures of being in two
      bands at once.
The Zebra demo, which comprised of a Chili Peppers cover, an original song
called 'Naughts and Crosses' and a song written by Seal was recorded in the
rehearsal room using Theo's fourtrack machine. A crude but inexpensive way of
recording, it never-the-less served its purpose in getting the band booked.
A year or two later Moving Rivers took 'Naughts and Crosses' a step further and
included it on their CD 'Down To Hope'
