In 1993, Neil auditioned with a group of musicians from
   Ilkley who had previously worked under the name
   of 'Casa Fina'. It was soon apparent that a style would
   be defined from the initial jamming sessions and
   rehearsals. Throughout 1994 Persuasion played countless
   gigs at pubs and clubs around Yorkshire. More often than
   not, taking the place by storm. The first songs to be
   demo'd were 'Louise' and 'Perfect Holiday' and the band
   were approached by Flat Records of Reigate to do test
   recordings and pre-production work on an album.

    The band declined the contract hoping for more substantial backing. In 1994,
    Persuasion completed their debut album entitled Phase Six. CD's and cassettes
    were sold in intervals at performances, as the band were still looking for serious
    record label interest or a publishing deal. Basing their style as a kind of funk-rock
    70's style revival meant a wide appeal, especially in student halls. Gigs at Ilkley's
    'Rose & Crown' were always crammed wall to wall with supporters, and the band
    seemed to go from strength to strength.
    One of the bands favourite places to perform was The Harrogate Arms. It was here
    that Persuasion met Tim Paul of Stray FM Radio, who asked the five-piece if they
    would  be interested in doing an interview. On Tim's show the band answered
    questions about their influences and about plans for the future. Tim also played
    three songs 'God',  'Louise' and 'Keep off the grass'. Following the radio interview
    Persuasion were invited to perform at The 'Mid-Summer Madness' Rock Concert at
    The Harrogate Arms. This prestigious annual open-air event was also broadcast
