Following a very
serious accident and time spent in hospital, Karl
Perkins picked up a guitar for the first time since
the seventies.
In the punk era he had played for bands who were on
the brink of
stardom but turned his back on the rock & roll
lifestyle in favour
of other things. Encouraged by his brother Karl took
to his new
'therapy' and made contact with other local musicians
in a bid to
form a live band. The first demo was recorded at Beaumont
St.
Studios and was largely used to see if Karl could
still do it.
Neil auditioned for Moving Rivers in late '97 &
began to write
lyrics for some of the work already completed by the
others.
Unfortunately, the drummer for the band decided to
leave to
further develop his drum teaching and workshops. From
this
point on the band suffered setback after setback in
relation to
finding musicians who would be committed to the project.
So
much so that their CD album 'Down to hope' features
no less
than four different drummers.
