Neil grew up in Yorkshire and was very much surrounded by music. Both his father and
brother were always playing guitars and the family would often make tape recordings of
everyone singing and playing in the living room. It wasn't until sixth form when a singing
part in the school play came up. This gave Neil enough confidence to try his hand at
songwriting and making those first fourtrack recordings.

He went to Bradford College in 1988 to study Graphic
Design. During this time he auditioned for a Bingley
band named Coda, who were looking for a vocalist.
This was Neil's first 'working' band and in addition to
forging some great friendships it became a valuable
learning ground. When Coda parted company in 1989,
Neil went on to form The Inquisition with Dave Turner.
A songwriting partnership which would become very
fruitful and prolific.
Neil signed to Pax Records in 1992 and later to Flat
Records in 1994 - both experiences left him dissillusioned
with the record industry but even more determined to
carry on writing the music and getting it out to a wider

audience. With over two hundred songs written and recorded, Neil has reached a point
where his production and recording skills can benefit other local artists and his
involvement with studios like 'The Blue Room' have led to production and engineering
credits on other artists recordings. Not one to rest on laurels, Neil is still writing for
his fourth album, and also fronting a live covers band. He now owns a private digital
facility which means that recording work can be done without pre-booking a studio.
